Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3

If you've been tracking superhero movies lately you'd know that we had 2 massive flops at the box office lately. Considering James Gunn's reputation for being a great director, I was extremely excited to see his latest work "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3". The film follows our beloved band of misfits who are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

What we all love about the Guardians movies is the writing and the characters that we meet in this interesting and wide universe. Considering the past 2 entries I was sure that Gunn would knock it out of the park with this final entry and I was NOT wrong! The writing in this film just proves that James Gunn is the only director that truly understands the characters. Everyone and I mean everyone in the team is given his proper moments. That's not to forget that this time around, the story is more exciting, more mature, and much more emotional. Trust me when I say that you'll need to get your tissues ready when watching this film. We all know that when it comes to humor, James Gunn never misses and he did not! James Gunn will have you crying from laughter or crying from what's happening on screen and that leads me to Rocket's backstory. Rocket's origin story is one of the darkest, saddest, and most brutal backstories that I've seen in any Comic Book movie and this just solidifies my statement about James Gunn being the only person that understands these characters.

On that thought, I have to mention that this film pushed the PG-13 rating to its absolute limit. I love it and actually think that most comic book movies should do that. At a whopping 149 min, the film never fails to entertain you with its funny moments or its epic action sequences. Oh, these action sequences were extremely well-choreographed and were brutal too! Moreover, I loved how the action sequences were inspired by some anime. It was a surprising and welcomed touch. What actually surprised me more was the amazing CGI. Yes, you read that right! Marvel finally gave time to the VFX artists to perfect their work and it's clearly seen in the movie. Everything was well-polished and was shockingly seamless. On a side note here I recommend watching this movie on an IMAX screen because the audio combined with the great visuals will make for a more immersive experience. 

I think it's time to praise the performances here because they were phenomenal. First off, I have to mention that Bradley Cooper absolutely crushed it as Rocket. He's outstanding and crazy talented! There's one extremely powerful scene that shows his true acting skills. Now can we please talk about Chukwudi Iwuji? This guy amazed me with his villainous role. He's the BEST marvel villain since Thanos! The same scene that I mentioned earlier also shows Chukwudi Iwuji's acting capabilities and skills but let's not forget the rest of the cast here! Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Will Poulter, Vin Diesel, and Maria Bakalova did a great job at portraying their characters but Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan did a perfect job here. Their performances are phenomenal! Overall, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3 is a perfect conclusion to our beloved band of misfits that's full of heart and emotion.
