A gripping tale from start to finish!
I remember seeing a trailer for this movie not long ago at my local theater and being interested in it. After watching "Air", I was sure that I was in for a treat and it turned out the way I expected it to be. "BlackBerry" follows the story of Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, the two men that charted the course of the spectacular rise and catastrophic demise of the world's first smartphone.

I'm not particularly a fan of films that always rely on heavy dialogue with little to nothing happening on screen but I surprisingly enjoyed this film more than "Air". Its script is smart and excellently written which is the strongest part of the film. I loved the direction by Matt Johnson here! I think that he's a great director and this film proves it. Everything from the camera movement to the dialogue was executed in a smart way. I appreciate the synchronization between the story and the filmmaking aspect here but it unfortunately came with its shortcoming. In my opinion, the film was rushing its second act and was moving at a very fast pace which made it overwhelming and tiring by the end. I get that this was Johnson's intention but in my opinion, it could have been executed in a much better and more organized way. The major appeal for me was the office-style filming aspect. I think that the SteadyCam is what made me enjoy this film more than I intended because I couldn't help but laugh at everything happening on screen. It helps lighten the mood and gives a more fun tone to the movie. Speaking about fun here, this movie is funny as hell and features some really good humor.

Praise should also go to the fantastic cast! Jay Brurachel and Glenn Howerton were exceptional in their roles! Matt Johnson was definitely great along with his co-stars. Overall, if you're looking for a film that explores the dark side of a business then look no further!
