A bumpy and underwhemind ride

The Fast and Furious franchise also known as the franchise that has defied reality is finally reaching the end of the road. Well, after the atrocity of Fast 9, the franchise finally made a comeback with one of its final installments Fast X. The film follows Dom Toretto and his family who have outsmarted and outdriven every foe in their path. Fueled by revenge, a terrifying threat emerges from the shadows of the past to shatter Dom's world and destroy everything and everyone he loves.

Helen Mirren (Queenie) and Vin Diesel (Dom Toretto) in Fast X (2023)

It's all about family! You guessed it! The franchise has been known to be obsessed with family. If you've been craving more family, this latest entry amps the drama up by a mile. This long-running story needs to stop. The film was bad, dull, and extremely painful to watch. First off, the ending of the film was abrupt and downright atrocious. I know that this is the first part of the conclusion but I would have preferred them to end it the way Avatar The Way of Water did. Seriously, nothing happens or progresses for the entirety of its runtime. On that thought, the movie is too long for its own sake. 20 to 30 minutes could have easily been cut and it would have the film slightly watchable. Moreover, the humor falls flat and the twist at the end will make you question your intelligence. I am sure that the writers thought that we were dumb and that the "twist" will come as a surprise. Secondly, I regret to say this but this franchise has officially defied and abandoned the rules of reality and the laws of physics. What made the past entries so entertaining were the car race sequences and action. In this entry, the "action" sequences are laughable, cringe, and illogical.

Jason Momoa (Dante Reyes) in Fast X (2023)

What more can this franchise waste, you ask? The answer is talent! Brie Larson feels out of place in the franchise and never gets her proper moment to shine due to the bad writing. Furthermore, Jason Statham, as well as Charlize Theron, were heavily sidelined despite them having an important role to play in the story. Oh, and that's not to forget Vin Diesel's bad acting. This guy cannot act nor express proper feelings and emotions on his face. I actually prefer him as a voice actor than an actor. On the bright side of things, Jason Momoa was the best part of the film as well as Alan Ritchson and Daniela Melchior.  Overall, If you've been a fan of the franchise for a long time and enjoyed the past 2 entries then I would recommend this. If not, then this is your last ride with Dom's family!
