Not FUBAR!
I've had this on my radar for a while and was excited about it due to how much I enjoy seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger perform on screen. Unfortunately, this show turned out to be a big mess and was not what I had in mind for it. Fubar follows a C.I.A. operative on the edge of retirement discovers a family secret and is called back into the field for one last job.

Where to begin with this mess? Well for starters let's discuss the whole story as well as the characters. The story was extremely tough to follow. The generic plotlines and "twists" as well as the corny dialogue that feels written by an AI made for an unpleasant experience. I mean the show promised to be f*cked up beyond all recognition and I did not get that impression. It's a half-baked story that borrows familiar beats from some better spy series. Additionally, this show features some of the worst character development ever! I did not see a logical and chronological development for the characters, especially for Emma and Barry. A good spy show needs a good villain and you don't get that here due to the poor writing that doesn't do justice to the characters and actors.

On that note, I have to mention the performances. Arnold Shwarchznegger and Monica Barbaro are having a blast portraying their characters and loved the father-daughter dynamic between them. Diego Luna, Jay Baruchel, and Aparna Brielle were awesome too. Unfortunately and despite their miserable efforts their characters don't get their proper times to shine which is a letdown, to say the least! Last but not least, let's discuss the major problem with this show. Since this is a spy show things should be intense and exciting which was sadly missing from Fubar. Oh, and the last-minute twist did not do it for me. My wish is that the writers learn from their mistakes and amp up the stakes as well as the drama for future seasons, and I cannot wait to see more of Arnold in the next season of the show.
