A beautiful and heartfelt film!

I'm going to keep this review short and sweet as I always do for these short films so let's get into what makes this movie great. "Finding the Beat" follows Tamer, a father whose relationship with his son, Sam, is challenged by their differing perspectives and Sam's passion for birds and music. As Tamer grapples with understanding and accepting Sam's unique abilities and needs due to his being autistic, his dedicated and loving wife, Mira, stands by his side, determined to bridge the gap between father and son. First off, I have to praise the narrative here. From the moment the film started I was hooked on this heartfelt story till the end. The writer managed to keep the narrative short and to the point which was great to see, to say the least. Since this film is inspired by the director's brother, I could feel the intimacy of the project whether it was the narrative, the acting, or even the cinematography.

Joseph Maroun (Sam) in Finding The Beat (2023)

On that note, I have to praise my favorite lebanese actor Joseph Maroun for portraying Sam in a beautiful and excellent way. Praise should also go towards the rest of the cast who did a great job at their roles. Moreover, I would like to praise the cinematography by the talented Chris Akoury. This man is a master at his craft and this work shows why he's one of the best Lebanese cinematographers. The color palette used here set the mood for the film and hooked me from the first frame till the last. No film is perfect and "Finding the Beat" faces one problem which is a lack of a musical score. This is maybe the biggest takeaway from what otherwise is an excellently crafted film.
