A colossal film that surpasses all expectations!
For the past week or so, I’ve been constantly thinking about what to write in my review of Dune Part Two. Words can’t express how big and epic this film is. Dune Part Two is not simply a masterpiece but it’s one of the best films ever made in the history of cinema! “Dune Part Two” follows Paul Atreides who unites with Chani and the Fremen who are seeking revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the universe, he must prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Why I adore this film is how rich, complex, and compelling the characters and lore are! Villeneuve indulges you with a beautiful tale about religion, hope, and revenge. In short, the writing in this film is truly flawless and quite amazing! What helped me be immersed in this world is the astonishing set design. Villeneuve takes to a world that’s dark yet beautiful. The attention given to the set designs is mind-blowing and is the best I’ve seen in a while! The arena set design was particularly fantastic! On that thought, I have to praise Greg Fraiser’s jaw-dropping cinematography. This is Fraiser’s best work to date and I couldn’t be any happier! Each frame felt like a beautiful painting that you could put on your wall and say “Wow!”. What blew me away was how Villeneuve and Fraiser approached shooting the arena scene. It was truly phenomenal to witness something like that on an IMAX screen. It was a feast to my eyes, to say the least! Of course, praise should also go to Hans Zimmer who crafted a sensational score that surpasses all his works. It’s beautiful, haunting, and mesmerizing to listen to!

Last but not least I have to praise the performances here. Timothée Chalamet brought his A-game to the table and gave a career-best in this film. His emotional yet cold performance made for a perfect rendition of Paul Atreides. Who surprised the most with her performance was Rebecca Ferguson. She blew me away with her cold and harsh performance. She truly is Reverend Mother! Of course, it’s time to address the elephant in the room which is Austin Butler. This guy is on another level right now because I could have never predicted that Austin Butler could surpass his performance in Elvis. You need to see it to believe it because he’s unrecognizable as Feyd-Rautha. He gives a very memorable performance that rivals Ledger and Bardem’s iconic performances as villains. His introduction in particular was scary and tense which made me love his performance even more!

Finally, I have to praise Villeneuve’s mind! Villeneuve you son of a bitch! This guy is truly phenomenal. His care and attention dedicated to this film cannot be denied. Remember when he said that Dune Part Two was going to be more action-packed? Well, he was not lying because the action in this film was masterful. It featured some of the most intense and big action sequences I’ve seen in a film in a very long time. The end fight scene in particular was so memorable that I can vividly recall everything and that’s how you know that a film has truly succeeded in its role. Now stop reading my review and go watch this magnificent and epic piece of art on an IMAX screen.
