Another messy and boring movie in the MonsterVerse!
3 years ago, Godzilla VS Kong was released and the hype was through the roof. Unfortunately, I did not like it and wasn't excited for the follow-up which was finally released this year! Well, the movie turned out to be another mindless and boring nonsense. Godzilla X Kong The New Empire follows Godzilla and the almighty Kong who have to face a colossal threat hidden deep within the planet, challenging their very existence and the survival of the human race.

What made "Godzilla VS Kong" so boring in the first place was the lack of story and attention to the plot. To no one's surprise, "Godzilla X Kong" failed to improve in this department! There's still a ton of cheesy one-liners and a total lack of any emotion in the plot. Whenever the humans were on screen the film felt apart and felt mindless and lost. I mean why can't we have good human drama and good Kaiju action? This is still left to be seen as WB plans to develop this MonsterVerse. On the bright side of things, what made the movie tolerable was the Kaiju action. Some of it was epic but some of it was a bit lame.

Of course, this couldn't have been achieved without the help of some convincing and realistic CGI. The movie fortunately seems to excel in this department! Everything from the fur of Kong to the details of Godzilla's movements was a feast to my eyes! Lastly, I have to talk about that acting! Rebecca Hall was great but who made this whole shitshow bearable was Dan Stevens with his charismatic and energetic performance on screen! Hottle and Henry were unfortunately weak despite their best efforts. I would not recommend "Godzilla X Kong The New Empire" to anyone but fans interested in seeing where the franchise is headed. If you're looking for something fun to watch you might as well watch "Godzilla Minus One"!
