The perfect summer blockbuster!
"Twisters" is what I would like to call the perfect summer movie. It's fun, it's thrilling, and it sure as hell is entertaining! "Twisters" follows Kate Cooper who gets lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi, to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. She soon crosses paths with Tyler Owens, a charming but reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures.
What makes this movie pure fun are the exhilarating tornado sequences! Seeing those on the big screen was a sight to behold and made for some intense moments. Trust me when I say that some of those sequences will keep you on the edge of your seat! Those sequences are amplified by some excellent CGI and VFX! Now what felt a bit messy or should I say out of control was the story. It was all over the place and bit off more than it could chew. The ending in particular felt unsatisfactory and made me roll my eyes at how generic it was. Despite the story feeling predictable, I still enjoyed it thanks to the great drama between our trio here! It was emotional and held the whole film together! None of that drama would have worked without our main cast here. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell's chemistry was phenomenal on screen! They both gave excellent performances and held the film together. Praise should also go towards Anthony Ramos who gave an excellent performance as well. The supporting cast was also great!
Finally, I have to praise the cinematography and the soundtrack here! First off, I must pay respect to Dan Mindel for shooting this on an actual 35mm film. It's rare to see movies shot on film nowadays and for them to shoot it was a huge risk but also a big reward. The cinematography was sharp, and beautiful and gave me that 2000's feel! Secondly, I must praise Benjamin Wallfisch's score here. It's epic, and grand and made those sequences feel more adventurous and more thrilling! In a nutshell, if you're looking for a fun summer movie made for pure entertainment then look no further because "Twisters" will suck you right in!
