Hit Man

A rom-com featuring Adria Arjona and Glen Powell, that's also being directed by Richard Linklater? Say no more! The moment I saw the trailer for this film I knew I'd be in for a treat and let me tell you that it did NOT disappoint! "Hit Man" follows professional killer Gary Johnson who breaks protocol to help a desperate woman trying to flee an abusive husband and finds himself falling for her.

First and foremost, I must praise Powell and Arjona's excellent chemistry on screen! Those 2 were brilliant every time they were on screen and shaped the film's soul! I mean seeing Powell impersonating serial killers and Tilda Swinton made my day! On that thought, praise should go to the rest of the cast who did a solid job too. Secondly, I need to discuss the story here. It was fairly simple with your obvious twists up until the end where the film changed things up. I wished the film tried something new by not having those predictable twists and surprises. Don't get me wrong here, it's not bad it's just a predictable yet fun story! At 115 minutes the film never gets boring and will surely keep you hooked from beginning to end! 

Last but not least, I must praise Richard Linklater's excellent direction here. Everything from a well-done story to the weird and quirky characters made for a delightful watch! Lastly, I have to discuss my one problem with this film. I honestly expected this to be more energetic and funny. It's still funny but I just expected a little bit more from it! All in all, not only is "Hit Man" a great rom-com but it's one of the year's best!
