The brutal and dark tale continues!

3 years ago, Robert Kirkman gave us one of the best TV shows ever. After a long wait, we finally got Season 2 of "Invincible". Well, was it worth the hype? "Invincible Season 2" follows Mark who tries to get his life back on track as he makes new adversaries and allies, all while trying to suppress his greatest fear: That he may become his father!

Steven Yeun (Mark Grayson) in Invincible (2024)

Before we get into the positives I must discuss the negatives first. This season was not as good as the first in my opinion in terms of storytelling. It felt short, rushed, and wasn't as deep or emotional as the first. Don't get me wrong here the final episode was phenomenal and made up for the shortcomings but I feel like Omni-Man could have had a bigger role this season. Despite all that, I couldn't help but feel that it was lackluster in terms of animation. I really enjoyed the first season thanks to its great animation and its attention to detail. While I know that animation takes time, I feel like it should be more detailed going forward as it took me out at times. On the bright side of things, the action sequences are still beautifully animated and feature good depth instead of feeling like PowerPoint slides!

J.K. Simmons (Omni-Man) and Steven Yeun (Mark Grayson) in Invincible (2024)

Speaking of action sequences, this season doubled down on the violence and gave us some of the most brutal and thrilling battles ever seen on TV! Last but not least, I must discuss the elements that I liked in the story! First off, I really liked what they did with Mark here. The last episode in particular sent chills down my spine and showed how well-written the characters are here! I also liked the direction the story is taking hopefully making Season 3 its biggest and most ambitious yet! Lastly, I have to applaud the cast for the amazing voice acting. This show has to be the most star-studded show ever! Every actor and I mean every actor did a masterful job at bringing their characters to life! High praise should go towards Steven Yeun and J.K. Simmons for stealing the show in every scene they're in! All in all, and despite having a lackluster animation, "Invincible" Season 2 remains a brutal, thrilling, and entertaining season!
