A brutal and high-octane ride!

Earlier this year, we received Dev Patel’s directorial “Monkey Man”. Despite the hype surrounding it, I left the theater feeling somewhat dissatisfied. Fast forward a couple of months, we got another action flick set in India, and let me tell you one thing: This is what “Monkey Man” wished it was! “Kill” follows a train to New Delhi that becomes a combat battleground as a pair of commandos face off against an army of invading bandits.

Lakshya (Amrit Rathod) in "Kill" (2024)

What made me love this film was the violence! Word of advice, if you have a weak heart you might have to skip this! This is by far the most violent film of the year! There was a ton of blood and guts here which was quite pleasing. Moreover, I must praise the stunt team for the excellently choreographed action sequences! They’re visceral, aggressive, and violent as hell! This is what made the film feel superior to Monkey Man as it delivered an amount of violence that’s rarely seen on the screen! Moreover, unlike other Bollywood action films, “Kill” delivers a fairly simple revenge story and again it manages to surpass Monkey Man’s story! There are your obvious cheesy Bollywood moments here and there but it still manages to be better than most of its competitors in India.

Raghav Juyal in "Kill" (2024)

Last but not least, I must praise the performances here! Lakshya clearly steals the show here as he pours his soul into this role. He's a menace on screen and evidently perfected his role! Praise should also go towards Raghav Juyal who delivered another phenomenal performance! Lastly, I must discuss the one problem I have with this film. Unfortunately, I feel like the overall direction here was a miss and rather uninteresting. I would have wished to see director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat take a different approach. I mean putting the title card at the 45-minute mark is beyond my understanding as it made the film feel longer. Furthermore, some moments feel a bit of a letdown due to the direction, and that's why I think there’s a better version of the film somewhere. Overall, “Kill” is not only one of the best action flicks of the year but it’s also one of the most violent and brutal films out there!
