Sonic the Hedgehog 3

The Sonic franchise has seen many ups and downs and as luck has it the third entry in this good franchise was indeed the charm! "Sonic: The Hedgehog 3" follows Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails who reunite to battle Shadow, a mysterious new enemy with powers unlike anything they've faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, they seek out an unlikely alliance to stop Shadow and protect the planet.

First off, I have to discuss the story here. The past entries in the franchise were known for having a "fine" story with many ups and downs in the writing. Thankfully, the story here was surprisingly great! It was darker, more mature, ambitious, and felt more complete than the past entries! On that thought, this film was filled with some phenomenal and beautifully animated action sequences. The last 40 minutes, in particular, were, in my opinion, one of the best things I've ever seen this year!  The only thing that felt like a downgrade in terms of the story was the humor, which was more mature and more "adult-oriented" than the "childish" humor we got here. Secondly, I must praise the animation and visual effects team! The visuals in this film simply blew me away! Everything from Shadow's fur to the lighting was a sight to behold on the big screen! 

Of course, those characters couldn't have been brought to life without a talented cast! First and foremost, I must praise Jim Carrey's "double" performance. This guy is a comedic genius and a phenomenal actor, and Sonic 3 is a perfect testament to his acting skills. Praise should also go towards Keanu Reeves, who also delivered a fantastic performance. His cold and mysterious voice always leaves an impression, and Shadow was a perfect fit for Reeves! Furthermore, I must praise Ben Schwartz's excellent performance. He captures the spirit and essence of Sonic perfectly and is never disappointing! The rest of the cast also delivered some great performances! Overall, "Sonic The Hedgehog 3" is an ambitious and darker film making it the best sonic film in the trilogy! Oh, and stay for those excellent 2 post-credit scenes!
