A "Superman" filled with joy and hope!
For many years now, "DC" has been struggling with finding its footing in creating a great and epic superhero universe, and I can finally say that after such a long time, Gunn's newest film is taking DC in the right direction! "Superman" follows Superman, who is drawn into conflicts at home and abroad, gets questioned for his actions, allowing tech billionaire Lex Luthor to get the Man of Steel out of the way for good.

What makes this film so great and terrific (pun intended!) is Gunn's vision of this superhero. He's not the god-like figure portrayed by Snyder, but he's portrayed as a true and more vulnerable hero here. By stripping him of his invulnerability and playing on this theme of hope and greatness, Gunn made this rendition of Superman feel fresh and interesting. It's filled with joy, hope, and most of all, heart! There are some heartfelt and emotional moments here that just hit you right in the feels, and that's the best thing you can get from a film like this! Of course, not everything is perfect, and this film, while beautiful, can get messy at times with its abundance of characters and subplots. There's A LOT here, and while they're well written, they feel underdeveloped due to the short runtime. Don't get me wrong here, the film's runtime is perfect, but I would have preferred Gunn to cut some of the characters and subplots out here and leave them for another entry.

Furthermore, I must praise the cast here. Everyone, and I mean every single one of the cast here, was perfect in their roles! David Corenswet's wholesomeness shines here and brings Superman to life in the best possible way. Moreover, Nicholas Hoult keeps on surprising me with every role he takes. I had my doubts about him when he got cast, but man, oh man, didn't he make me hate Lex Luthor in this film. He was the perfect choice for the character, in my opinion, and I can't wait to see him in future DC projects. Praise should also go towards Rachel Brosnahan, who was also the perfect Lois Lane! Her chemistry with Corenswet was off the charts, and in my opinion, they're the best Clois we ever got!

Last but not least, I must praise the cinematography here. This film is simply gorgeous. It's brimming with colors, and everything from the set designs to the color palette used made this a visual feast! On that thought, the CGI was amazing and fit the overall tone that the film was going for. Lastly, a Superman movie isn't complete without having an iconic and great score, and John Murphy and David Fleming delivered one hell of a score that's just epic! Words cannot describe how happy I am to see the DC universe finally alive again and filled with joy and color, and "Superman" is quite possibly the best way to start this beautiful universe!
