A magnificient and epic adaptation!

We live in an era of constant adaptation and remakes, and while it doesn't always work out, sometimes it does, and it's really hard not to admire the remarkable work done! I'm happy to report that Del Toro has done it yet again! "Frankenstein" follows a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a monstrous creature to life in a daring experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.

Oscar Isaac (Victor Frankenstein) in Frankenstein (2025)

For starters, I must praise the story here. Del Toro did one hell of a job at adapting the classic story despite taking some good creative liberties in it. At its core, it still held the same themes and landed in the same way, which was more than enough for me. It was great, poetic, and beautiful to say the least! Secondly, I must praise the performances here. Every single performance in this film was incredible! Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth did a phenomenal job with their characters, but who stole the show for me was Jacob Elordi. Incredible is an understatement for his performance as the Monster here. I was so completely taken by the beauty of his performance, and that left a big smile on my face!

Jacob Elrodi (The Monster) in Frankenstein (2025)

Last but not least, I must praise the wardrobe, make-up, and set design here. In a time when everything is done using CGI, it was very refreshing to see these authentic sets and wardrobe. They looked incredible visually and were a testament to how great practical stuff is. On that, though, this film was a visual feast!  The cinematography in this film was insanely beautiful and stylized. The colors, the framing, the composition, everything about it left me hypnotized. I can keep talking and talking about how great and monumental this film is, but nothing compares to what this film truly is! It's simply incredible, and I cannot recommend it enough!
