A pleasant and unexpected surprise!
When Netlfix first announced that she was making "Agent Elvis" I immediately thought that this was going to be a rough watch and certainly a failure. I am happy to say that I was proven wrong! This show is excellently animated and fun to watch. "Agent Elvis" follows Elvis who joins a secret government spy program to help battle the dark forces that threaten the country.
Before I start discussing anything else, I need to praise the animation in this show! If you watched "Spiderman Into The Spider-Verse" then you would know what to expect from Sony Pictures Animation. They never disappoint when it comes to animation. Wow! Each frame and I mean every frame in this show is perfectly animated! Now let's get into Trouble! My biggest fear before I started watching the show was how they would handle the story. Thankfully, all my worries went away when I finished watching the first episode because the story in my opinion was better than I expected. Do not be mistaken here, there are a lot of flaws in it but it works within the context of the show I would be lying If I didn't say that I had my fair share of laughs when watching it!
On that thought, the humor in this show was top-tier! It was hilarious and definitely made me smile at times. Of course, the jokes wouldn't work without some excellent and convincing performances. I will say it here. Mathew McConaughey is the perfect Elvis and I would LOVE to see him play the king of rock'n'roll in a live-action. Tom Kenny and Johnny Knoxville were hilarious and always stole the show when they showed up. One thing that I wasn't expecting to write in this review is how much I love Don Cheadle's performance in the show. His voice was unrecognizable and couldn't believe that this was him!
Another thing that I loved in this show was how well they utilized Elvis' songs in those over-the-top badass action sequences which were again beautifully animated! Overall, I would strongly recommend "Agent Elvis" if you're looking for a fun and entertaining quick watch.
