Well, I am happy to say that I had an excellent time with it. Before we get into the heart of this movie I have to admit that the opening scene and title card were crazy and awesome. I mean this is how you start a MOVIE! Now let's get into what makes this movie so good! First off, the story in this film was great. It definitely follows the same formula as any other horror film but it was elevated by its campy nature! The cheesy and goofy lines are there and I love it! Now I do have one problem with it and that is that the dumb and illogical factors are noticeable and may affect your enjoyment. Seriously, I am actually convinced that the characters in this film are brain-dead! I can't discuss them here due to obvious spoilers but If you watch the film know that the dumb factor is high!

Despite all the issues with the story, the cheesy and goofy lines combined with the excellent acting made up for it. On that thought, let's talk about the performances. Alyssa Sutherland deserves to win best supporting actress this year at the Academy because she was phenomenal! If you saw her in the trailer then wait till you see her in full action in the film. Lilly Sullivan was simply amazing! Her chemistry with Alyssa Sutherland on screen was great too! Credits should also go to the child actors because they outdid themselves. Nell Fisher, Gabrielle Echols, and Morgan Davies did a fantastic job here! Last but not least, I would like to mention what else I absolutely loved here. Firstly, I am in love with how this film is shot. The color palette, the lens used and the unusual angles made this movie a feast for my eyes. There's one scene in particular that had my jaw on the floor. I admire Lee Cronin's style and wouldn't mind him making a sequel.

Do you know what else was a feast to see on screen? The gore! If you have Aichmophobia or a problem with gore and child brutality then this movie is certainly not for you nor for the weak-hearted! All in all, Evil Dead Rise is a bloody good time at the theater and I would recommend you watch this film with a packed crowd. I am sure that fans will find some things to like about this film. As for me, I had an excellent time with it and would definitely want a sequel.
