A rip-off of Glass Onions!

I remember watching "Murder Mystery" back in 2019 and thoroughly enjoying it. Well, after 4 years we got an unnecessary sequel to an okay film. "Murder Mystery 2" follows full-time detectives Nick and Audrey Spitz who find themselves at the center of an international abduction when their friend the Maharaja is kidnapped at his own lavish wedding.

Adam Sandler in Murder Mystery 2 (2023)

Where to start with this mess? Well, for starters, I think that this sequel was completely unnecessary and unfortunately did not add anything new to the franchise which is disappointing. Second of all, can I know why I felt bored the entire time? After a couple of hours, I finally figured out why! The answer is simple which is that the mystery is basically missing. I couldn't feel any build-up or tension. In addition, I have to mention that who the killers where was pretty obvious if you ask me. I remember that the first one was okay and that it was funny in parts but this is completely absent here. The film tries everything and I mean everything to get a laugh out of you and I hate it when a film does that to me. It's a sign of lazy and messy writing!

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler in Murder Mystery 2 (2023)

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler shared great chemistry on screen and I enjoyed watching them. The rest of the cast was good but I do believe that this stacked cast deserves a much better film than this! Let's talk about the only positive side of the film. One thing that I did not expect to like was the cinematography. This film is beautifully shot in my opinion. One slow-mo shot had me in awe! Overall, I feel like Garelick's "Murder Mystery 2" is a "Glass Onion" rip-off which is sad, to say the least. I do hope that Netflix stops putting out these awful and unnecessary sequels and starts doing something new and interesting.
