A fun film thanks to some great direction!
When it was first got announced that Ben Affleck was doing a movie about the famous Air Jordan shoes my curiosity quickly arose. "Air" follows the unbelievable game-changing partnership between a then-rookie Michael Jordan and Nike’s fledgling basketball division which revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture with the Air Jordan brand.

Here's the deal I'm not a big fan of biopics but some do pique my interest which was the case here. As you might have guessed by the trailers the film follows a pretty predictable path with its story and I feared that may not keep me on the edge of my seat. Well, I was wrong because it was incredible and tense. This is all due thanks to some excellent direction by Ben Affleck. Wow! I was constantly kept on the edge of my seat and stressed out thanks to some excellent close-ups and some tight shots as well as some fantastic writing! Furthermore, I would like to mention that the aspect ratio helped the film's tension which was a nice touch.

Talk about a film that's tense and stressful, "Air" certainly has room to breathe by throwing some of the funniest dialogue. One scene, in particular, had me laughing out loud in the theater and I'm sure it'll do it to you. Now, I am not a huge fan of basketball but if you're a fan of it then you will absolutely adore the story and the whole vibe of the film. On that thought, I LOVED that old touch given to the film. The 80's setting here as well as the pop culture in that phenomenal intro was the cherry on top for me.

Certainly, this couldn't have been achieved without the help of a solid cast. Wow! Everyone and I mean everyone outdid themselves. Matt Damon did a phenomenal job of portraying his character Sonny Vaccaro. He's still in my opinion one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood and would love to see him in future roles. Jason Bateman and Ben Affleck were great and absolutely loved their performance in the film but the star of the show was Viola Davis. Her performance was masterful as Jordan's Mother. She's still a Woman King ! Moreover, I need to mention two performances of the funniest actors in Hollywood. Chris Tucker and Matthew Maher were phenomenal and kept the film from being too tense.

Now there are 2 small things that I did not like and that was the runtime and Micheal Jordan's role in the film. First off, the film could have easily been a tight 95 min and the film definitely overstayed its welcome near the end in my opinion. Second of all, I hate how we couldn't see Micheal Jordan's actor in the film. It felt weird and disrupted some scenes for me. All in all, Ben Affleck's "Air" will definitely satisfy fans of basketball as well as casual viewers who are looking for an epic film to watch.
